I am changing my original plan for tomorrow. Since we will be working on our S.M.A.R.T. goals in our groups, I have decided to let you all watch this clip about S.M.A.R.T. goals and effectively have a quiz about this video clip tomorrow. It is only about 3 minutes long, but is full of important and useful information. I did not make this video, but agree with its content. ¡Hasta mañana! :-)

In preparation for tomorrow's class and quiz, please watch both short video clips about the beautiful South American, Spanish-speaking country of Peru. POSSIBLE questions for tomorrow's quiz might come from different places in Peru mentioned in the video, different things, animals, etc., found in those places, as well as issues referenced in the videos about poverty. Hence, it might help you to take notes about those topics as they come up in the videos. :) Hope this helps!!

August 20, 2015 for August 21, 2015--Ecuador Culture Integration
LEARNING TARGETS:
1) I can analyze the cultural values (geographical location, foods, economy, and languages) of Ecuador.
2) I can create a brochure with specific cultural characteristics of the country of Ecuador. (target # 2 will be done in class)
Saludos Chicos y Chicas, In preparation for Friday's class, you simply need to watch the following cultural videos (most are very short, from 1 to 4 minutes) about the beautiful country of Ecuador. Your viewing quiz will simply be the following: 1) write 3 details about the geography/location of Ecuador, 2) write 5 foods, including any exotic foods, that are consumed in Ecuador, 3) write 3 details about the economy of Ecuador, and 4) write 4 languages discussed in the video about language [she refers to one as a dialect]. ¡Hasta mañana! :-)
PS--> Señor Anama-Green lived in Ecuador for 2 1/2 years and YES, he DID have to eat Cuy Frito..... :)

Video to be viewed prior to classes of Monday, August 24 and 25, 2015 (No quiz)
Saludos Chicos y Chicas, Please view this video prior to Monday and Tuesday's in-class classes. We will be in the HCHS Library computer lab on Monday, and the 3rd Floor computer lab on Tuesday. There will not be a quiz. However, if you do not watch the video, and/or do not already have knowledge as to how create a website using Weebly (or Wix), you will be lost on Monday and Tuesday. The skill of being able to create a website will not only benefit you for your assessments in Spanish class, but will also help you in your other walks of life as well. For example, your church or social group may one day need your assistance in creating a website for their organization. You may have a college/university class that requires the creation of a website to showcase your knowledge/grasp of a concept. Your parents/guardians may need to have a website for their business or social group and need your assistance. Hence, the skills you use to showcase your written knowledge in Spanish about entertainment may also benefit you in other avenues of your life.
The following presentational writing prompt is the one which has instructions for your website. You have the choice to work with a partner, provided that you both speak about a different event within the same form of entertainment. For example, if one student chooses to talk about Harlan County Football, he/she should choose one game and his/her partner should talk about a different football game. These should be on separate pages of the website.
August 25 for class of August 26 :-)
Since several students still lack their website presentations, there will not be a required video for the night of 8/26/2015 :-) Enjoy your free evening. If you are absent tomorrow, 8/27/2015, look up the two videos we watched about Colombia. You will need to create a brochure, which will be due on Monday.
Señor Anama-Green will be absent on 8/28/2015 because he has to attend a teachers' meeting held in Northern Kentucky for the Innovative Teacher Leader Cohort that is part of the Fund for Transforming Education in Kentucky (click on the hyperlink for more details). For this reason, there will be no video to watch on 8/27/2015. His sub, Señora Crain, will be showing tonight's video in class tomorrow and there will be an assignment to go along with the video that must be turned into Señora Crain. After the school day tomorrow, Señor Anama-Green will post the video for the class to watch should there be any absences, pep rallies, etc.

For tonight, simply write the foods and their meanings for tomorrow's class. Most of this will be review from Spanish 1-B. :)
The second video (above) is for supplemental notes, but is not required to be completed prior to tomorrow's class. The only video required to be watched ahead of time for class tomorrow is the short, 1:36 clip (the first video for tonight). However, you should watch the second video sometime within the week as you will use the content in your speaking prompts this week and next week.

STARTING TODAY: Email all of your answers ahead of time to Mr. Anama-Green's school email address contained in the syllabus. If you need a copy of the syllabus, it is at the top of this page. This will take the place of your daily quiz grades in class to allow more time for in-class projects, etc.

Additionally, each of you already have a free email account since you are a student of Harlan County Public Schools.
